The committee met at 5 p.m. in the Nashville Farmer's Market conference room immediately before a meeting of the Cumberland River Basin Council.

The group discussed the program content for the meeting. Mayo distributed a proposed schedule and asked for suggested speakers and topics for both the general sessions and concurrent sessions. Steering Committee Meeting, April 10, 2008.
The Steering Committee met on Thursday, April 10 at the Nashville Farmer's Market, immediately before the Cumberland Basin Council meeting organized by Laura Alex of the Cumberland River Compact.
The primary topic was plans for a Blueways workshop on Friday afternoon before the full Summit begins. Mike Cain will be the primary organizer for that part of our agenda. His intent is to invite people from around the state who have been involved with successful blueways/water trails projects. Christine Olsenius and Kristen Dietrick of the Southeast Water Forum attended the meeting. The Forum is interested in both the blueways workshop and main summit and may be able to provide some help.
Also discussed:
Mayo will develop a broad outline of the program agenda to post and then will solicit ideas for sessions. The committee generally agreed that the agenda in 2007 was a little too ambitious so we will cut back somewhat on the number of sessions offered.
We would like to find one or more sponsors to help support scholarships and/or speaker fees.
We also discussed the longer term future of the Summit. We likely will outgrow the camp after this year. Part of our strategy session at the 2008 meeting will be to make preliminary plans for 2009.
